ViaDirect equips Nancy city
Le city of Nancy has just been equipped with the newest version of the ViaDirect City solution, a mature product designed for large deployments, both technically and economically. This is the result of lessons and success of the experimentation for an interactive city map, on Haussmann Avenue in Paris in 2011. Les Vitrines de Nancy, the first trade association of the city, has chosen ViaDirect to equip the town with a “smart shop front” at the Office du Commerce, Maginot square.
Founded in order to create a link between consumers and traders, the Office is an inescapable meeting point to find information on shops, brands, products, good deals, and city life. The installation of an interactive and multitouch shop front is a way for “Les Vitrines de Nancy” to go further in the communication, with an innovative, playful tool, available 24h/24, both in French and in English.
Designed by ViaDirect, the kiosk is modular and can be installed in every kind of shop front. It allows putting the screen at the appropriate height, for easy access to all: parents, children, and disabled people.
The Dynascan 55’’ screen, high-luminosity and low energy have been chosen in order to be consulted whatever the luminous intensity. It is placed behind the pane so that it is protected against bad weather, temperature gap, and vandalism. To make it interactive, ViaDirect has chosen a multitouch film, situated between the screen and the pane, making it multitouch from the outside.
The ViaDirect software has been designed in order to help the user to easily find the information, thanks to pictograms and an interface understandable by all. The application allows the discovery of the shops, restaurants, hostels, bars, public services, transports, and streets. Events, special offers of the shops, and further information on the city are also available.
The complete map of the city is accessible in a classic way and in an innovative version with satellite pictures. More than 4000 destinations have been listed with, for each one, a visualization of the itinerary on the map, and other further information (opening hours, phone numbers, services, etc.)
Connected, the interface allows the user to be informed on various services updated in real-time: weather, bikes available at the vélOStan’lib station nearby, etc.
