PARIS MONTPARNASSE TRAIN STATION EQUIPPED WITH AN INTERACTIVE OUTDOOR INFORMATION AND WAYFINDING KIOSK

ViaDirect equips Paris Montparnasse railway
Gares et Connexions (a subsidiary of SNCF, France’s national state-owned railway company) chose ViaDirect and its solution dedicated to Public Transportation for a digitalization test of the Paris Montparnasse railway station.
ViaDirect deployed a new version of the solution already installed in a metro station and in the streets of Paris.
For this installation in the station, ViaDirect had the opportunity to offer a dedicated version for railway transportation that met the high level of requirement of the SNCF, for the content as well as the ergonomics.
We decided to add additional innovations:
- Photorealistic 3D flyover of the city for destinations outside the station
- Multilingual interface: English, French, Spanish, and Breton (Celtic language spoken in Brittany, a region served by this station).
- Real-time display of the platform of the trains (with wayfinding to the platform)
- Smart interface which can bring down the “touch part” (the menu and the browsing buttons) so that people in wheelchairs can touch them.

The hardware was provided by Aplus Système Automation. The Vision(+) Flexi Mega Outdoor model is fitted for an outdoor environment. It is aluminum and is equipped with a 46” high luminosity touchscreen that can reach up to 20 simultaneous touches and has a barcode reader.
